This hadith discusses the proper way to clean menstrual blood from clothes. Umm Qais bint Mihsan asked the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ about how to clean menstrual blood that gets on one's clothes, and he instructed her to scratch it with a stick and wash it with water and lotus leaves. This hadith teaches us that we should take care of our hygiene, especially when dealing with bodily fluids such as menstrual blood, in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It also shows us that we should seek knowledge by asking questions if we are unsure of something, as Umm Qais did when she asked the Prophet ﷺ for advice on how to properly clean her clothing.
