Washing the Prophet's Head During Menstruation

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) would allow 'Aishah to wash his head while she was menstruating.

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: "The Prophet would put his head out while he was in I'tikaf and I would wash it, while I was menstruating".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be kind and considerate towards others regardless of their physical or spiritual state; Treat natural bodily functions with respect; Do not be ashamed or embarrassed about natural bodily functions; Accept them as part of life .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) practice of allowing 'Aishah to wash his head while she was in a state of menstruation. This shows that even though it is forbidden for a woman who is in her menstrual cycle to perform certain acts of worship such as prayer and fasting, there are still other acts that can be done during this time. It also shows us the importance of being kind and considerate towards others regardless of their physical or spiritual state. Furthermore, it teaches us that we should not be ashamed or embarrassed about our natural bodily functions but rather accept them as part of life and treat them with respect.
