The Importance of Wudu' After Touching the Penis

SUMMARY: Wudu' should be done after touching the penis.

'Urwah bin Az-Zubair said: "I entered upon Marwan bin Al-Hakam and we mentioned the things for which Wudu' is done. Marwan said: 'Wudu' should be done after touching the penis'. 'Urwah said: 'I did not know that'. Marwan said: 'Busrah bint Safwan told me that she heard the Messenger of Allah say: "And if any one of you touches his penis, let him do Wudu'".
أَخْبَرَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ، أَنْبَأَنَا مَالِكٌ، ح وَالْحَارِثُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَاسِمِ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَزْمٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ، يَقُولُ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى مَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ فَذَكَرْنَا مَا يَكُونُ مِنْهُ الْوُضُوءُ فَقَالَ مَرْوَانُ مِنْ مَسِّ الذَّكَرِ الْوُضُوءُ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ عُرْوَةُ مَا عَلِمْتُ ذَلِكَ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ مَرْوَانُ أَخْبَرَتْنِي بُسْرَةُ بِنْتُ صَفْوَانَ أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ ‏ "‏ إِذَا مَسَّ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of performing ablution, or wudu', after touching one's genital organ. It was narrated by 'Urwah bin Az-Zubair who said that he entered upon Marwan bin Al-Hakam and they discussed things for which wudu' is done. Marwan said that wudu' should be done after touching one's penis, to which 'Urwah replied that he did not know that. Marwan then told him that Busrah bint Safwan had informed him that she heard the Prophet Muhammad say "And if any one of you touches his penis, let him do Wudu". This hadith emphasizes on the importance of performing ablution when coming into contact with one's genital organ as it is a form of purification from impurities and a way to maintain cleanliness in Islam.
