Sahih al-Bukhari 1528 (Book 25, Hadith 16) #1467
Designated Places for Pilgrims to Enter Ihram

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Miqat, which are the designated places for pilgrims to enter into a state of Ihram before they perform Hajj or Umrah.

Narrated Salim bin 'Abdullah from his father: I heard Allah's Messenger saying, "The Miqat for the people of Medina is Dhul-Hulaifa; for the people of Sham is Mahita; (ie Al-Juhfa); and for the people of Najd is Qarn. And said Ibn 'Umar, "They claim, but I did not hear personally, that the Prophet said, "The Miqat for the people of Yemen is Yalamlam".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith talks about the Miqat which are specific places that pilgrims must enter into a state of Ihram before performing Hajj or Umrah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ designated four different locations as the Miqats for people living in different areas; these were Dhul Hulaifah for people living in Medina, Al Juhfah for those living in Sham and Qarn al Manazil for those living in Najd and Yalamlam was mentioned as an additional location but it was not heard directly from the Prophet ﷺ himself. This hadith teaches us that we should be mindful of our obligations when it comes to religious practices and follow what has been prescribed by Allah SWT and His Messenger ﷺ .
