QUICK LESSONS:
Maintain a level of cleanliness and hygiene even when performing basic bodily functions such as using the toilet. Follow Islamic teachings on taharah which includes wudu’ for prayer and ghusl for ritual purification after sexual intercourse or menstruation.

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Anas bin Malik teaches us the importance of cleanliness and hygiene in Islam. It is reported that when the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) went to the toilet, he would use a small leather vessel of water to clean himself with. This shows us that even when performing basic bodily functions such as using the toilet, we should still maintain a level of cleanliness and hygiene. In Islam, this is known as taharah or purity which includes wudu’ for prayer and ghusl for ritual purification after sexual intercourse or menstruation. Therefore this hadith serves as an example for Muslims to follow in order to maintain their physical purity at all times.
