Proper Etiquette in Toilets

SUMMARY: It is not permissible to touch one's penis with the right hand when entering a toilet.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Abi Qatadah that his father said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'When any one of you enters Al-Khala' (the toilet), let him not touch his penis with his right hand'."
أَخْبَرَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ، عَنْ وَكِيعٍ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، - هُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ - عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ إِذَا دَخَلَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْخَلاَءَ فَلاَ يَمَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ

The hadith narrated by 'Abdullah bin Abi Qatadah states that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ instructed us to observe proper etiquette when entering a toilet. He said that we should not touch our private parts with our right hand while in the toilet. This hadith teaches us about modesty and respect for ourselves and others, as well as proper hygiene practices. We should always remember to be mindful of our actions and words, even when we are alone or in private places such as toilets.
