Sahih al-Bukhari 1524 (Book 25, Hadith 12) #1463
Designated Miqat for Hajj and 'Umra

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) designated certain places as Miqat for people of different regions to assume Ihram from when performing Hajj and 'Umra.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: Allah's Messenger (pbuh) made Dhul-Huiaifa as the Miqat for the people of Medina; Al-Juhfa for the people of Sham; Qarn-al-Manazil for the people of Najd; and Yalamlam for the people of Yemen; and these Mawaqit are for the people at those very places, and besides them for those who come thorough those places with the intention of performing Hajj and 'Umra; and whoever is living within these boundaries can assume Ihram from the place he starts, and the people of Mecca can assume Ihram from Mecca.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful of your surroundings when embarking on a spiritual journey such as Hajj or Umrah
EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) designated certain places as the Miqats for people of different regions to assume Ihram from when performing the rituals of Hajj and 'Umra. These Mawaqit are located in Medina, Sham, Najd and Yemen. People living within these boundaries can assume Ihram from the place they start their journey while those living in Mecca can assume it from there itself. This hadith teaches us that we should be mindful of our surroundings when embarking on a spiritual journey such as Hajj or Umrah so that we may perform them correctly according to Islamic teachings.
