The Humble Life of the Prophet Muhammad

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad was so humble and generous that he could not even provide enough food for his family.

Abu Huraira reported: By Him in Whose Hand is my life and Ibn 'Abbad also said: By One in Whose hand is the life of Abu Huraira, Allah's Messenger could not afford to provide adequate food to his family which could (fill their bellies) with bread and wheat for three days successively until he left the world.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be humble and generous with whatever resources you have available

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the humility and generosity of the Prophet Muhammad. Despite being a leader of a nation, he did not have enough money to provide adequate food for his family. This shows how humble he was in his lifestyle and how generous he was with what little resources he had. He gave away whatever little wealth or possessions that were available to him in order to help those who were less fortunate than him. This is an example of true leadership which should be emulated by all Muslims today.
