Pre-Islamic Address by Governor of Basra

SUMMARY: This hadith is about Khalid b. 'Umair and 'Uqba b. Ghazwan, who was the governor of Basra, delivering an address in the pre-Islamic days.

Khalid b. 'Umair reported and he had seen the pre-Islamic days also, that 'Uqba b. Ghazwan delivered this address and he was the governor of Basra. The rest of the hadith is the same as transmitted by Shaiban.
وَحَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ سَلِيطٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ، هِلاَلٍ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، وَقَدْ أَدْرَكَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةَ قَالَ خَطَبَ عُتْبَةُ بْنُ غَزْوَانَ وَكَانَ أَمِيرًا عَلَى الْبَصْرَةِ ‏.‏ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ شَيْبَانَ
