Sahih Muslim 2963c (Book 55, Hadith 14) #14534
Gratitude for Allah's Blessings

SUMMARY: Do not compare yourself to those who are better off than you, and instead be grateful for the blessings that Allah has bestowed upon you.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger as saying: Look at those who stand at a lower level than you but don't look at those who stand at a higher level than you, for that is better-suited that you do not disparage Allah's favors. In the chain narrated by Abu Mu'awiya's he said: Upon you.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be thankful for what you have been given by God; don't take your blessings for granted; appreciate all good things from God; don't compare yourself with others; don't disparage the favors of God .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith encourages us to be grateful for the blessings that Allah has given us, rather than comparing ourselves to those who have more. It is important to remember that we should not take our blessings for granted, as they come from Allah alone. We should also remember that it is better not to disparage or belittle the favors of Allah, as He is the one who gives them in abundance. Instead of looking at those with more than us, we should look at those with less and be thankful for what we have been given.

This hadith also teaches us humility; by reminding us not to look down on others or think too highly of ourselves because of our possessions or status in life. We must always remember that all good comes from God and no matter how much wealth or power someone may have, it does not make them any better than anyone else in His eyes.
