Sahih Muslim 2959a (Book 55, Hadith 6) #14526
Attachment to Wealth

SUMMARY: A person should not be overly attached to their wealth, as only a portion of it is truly theirs and the rest will be left behind when they die.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger as saying: A servant says, My wealth. my wealth, but out of his wealth three things are only his: whatever he eats and makes use of or by means of which he dresses himself and it wears out or he gives as charity, and this is what he stored for himself (as a reward for the Hereafter), and what is beyond this (it is of no use to you) because you are to depart and leave it for other people.

QUICK LESSONS:
Give away some of your wealth in charity; Focus on using your wealth in ways that benefit you in the afterlife; Help those who are less fortunate than yourself; Be generous with your possessions; Be grateful for God’s blessings upon you .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that we should not become too attached to our wealth, as only a portion of it is truly ours. The things that are ours are what we eat, use for clothing, or give away in charity. Anything beyond this is not ours and will eventually have to be left behind when we die. We should focus on using our wealth in ways that benefit us in the afterlife rather than just trying to accumulate more and more material possessions here on earth. We can do this by giving charity and helping those who are less fortunate than ourselves. By doing so, we can ensure that our good deeds will follow us into the afterlife and bring us rewards from Allah SWT.
