The World as a Prison and Paradise

SUMMARY: The world is a place of confinement for believers and a place of joy for non-believers.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger as saying: The world is a prison-house for a believer and Paradise for a non-believer.

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive towards righteousness and focus on the hereafter instead of worldly pleasures.
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the idea that the world is seen differently by believers and non-believers. For believers, it is seen as a prison-house or place of confinement because they are aware that this life is temporary and their ultimate goal should be to strive for the hereafter. On the other hand, non-believers see this life as paradise because they do not believe in an afterlife or any consequences after death. This hadith serves as an important reminder to believers that although we live in this world, our focus should be on striving for the hereafter instead of getting too attached to worldly pleasures.
