Sahih Muslim 2893 (Book 54, Hadith 37) #14330
The Importance of Listening to Hadiths

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the importance of listening to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and not arguing with someone who has heard a hadith from him.

Jundub reported: I came on the day of Jara'a that a person was (found) sitting. I said: They would shed their blood today. That person said: By Allah. not at all. I said: By Allah, of course, they would do it. He said: By Allah, they would not do it. I said: By Allah, of course, they would do it. He said: By Allah, they would not do it, and I have heard a hadith of Allah's Messenger which I am narrating to you in this connection. I said: You are a bad seat fellow. I have been opposing you since morning and you are listening to me in spite of the fact that you have heard a hadith from Allah's Apostle (contrary to my statement). I myself felt that there was no use of this annoyance. (He could tell me earlier that it was a hadith of the Prophet (may peace be upon him, and I would not have opposed him at all) I turned my face toward him and asked him and he was Hadrat Hudhaifa.

QUICK LESSONS:
Listen carefully before forming opinions or making decisions . Respect knowledge . Accept different opinions without judgement .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights the importance of listening to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It tells us that we should not argue with someone who has heard a hadith from him. We should respect their knowledge and accept what they say as it comes from Allah's Messenger himself. The lesson here is that we should always listen carefully to what others have to say before forming our own opinion or making any decisions. We must also remember that even if we disagree with someone else's opinion or beliefs, it does not mean that we are right and they are wrong; rather, it means that there may be more than one way to look at something.
