Not Eating Things Given in Charity

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) taught that it is not permissible to eat something given in charity.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Al-Hasan bin 'Ali took a date from the dates given in charity and put it in his mouth. The Prophet said, "Expel it from your mouth. Don't you know that we do not eat a thing which is given in charity?"

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrated by Abu Huraira teaches us the importance of not eating things given in charity. It is important to remember that when someone gives something away as a donation or charity, it should be respected and not taken for personal use. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was teaching Al-Hasan bin 'Ali this lesson when he saw him take a date from the dates given in charity and put it in his mouth. He immediately told him to expel it from his mouth, reminding him that we do not eat things which are given away as donations or charities. This hadith teaches us the importance of respecting donations and charities, and reminds us to be grateful for what we have been blessed with instead of taking advantage of other people's generosity.
