Sahih Muslim 2816e (Book 52, Hadith 68) #14167
The Mercy of Allah

SUMMARY: No one can be saved by their deeds alone, even the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was not saved by his deeds alone, but rather through the mercy of Allah.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger as saying: There is none whose deeds alone can'secure salvation for him. They said: Allah's Messenger, not even you? Thereupon he said: Not even I, but that, the Mercy of Allah should take hold of me.

QUICK LESSONS:
Rely on God's mercy, Do good deeds
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how no one can be saved by their own deeds alone. Even the Prophet Muhammad himself was not able to save himself through his own actions, but rather it was only through the mercy of Allah that he could be saved. This teaches us that we should always rely on Allah's mercy and grace in order to achieve salvation. We should also strive to do good deeds in order to please Allah and increase our chances of being granted His mercy.
