Splitting of the Moon

SUMMARY: The moon was split into two parts during the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad and he asked people to witness it.

'Abdullah b. Mas'ud reported that the moon was split up in two parts during the lifetime of Allah's Messenger . The mountain covered one of its parts and one part of it was above the mountain and Allah's Messenger said: Bear witness to this.
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ انْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ فِلْقَتَيْنِ فَسَتَرَ الْجَبَلُ فِلْقَةً وَكَانَتْ فِلْقَةٌ فَوْقَ الْجَبَلِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a miraculous event that happened during the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad. It is reported that the moon was split into two parts and one part was above a mountain while another part was covered by it. Prophet Muhammad asked people to bear witness to this event as a sign from Allah. This hadith teaches us that miracles can happen with Allah's will and power and we should be ready to accept them as signs from Him. We should also be ready to bear witness when something extraordinary happens in our lives or around us so that others may also believe in it.
