Sahih Muslim 2752c (Book 50, Hadith 22) #14041
The Mercy of Allah

SUMMARY: Allah has sent down one part of His mercy to all living creatures, which is why they show kindness and love towards each other. He has reserved ninety nine parts of mercy for His servants on the Day of Resurrection.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger as saying: There are one hundred (parts of) mercy for Allah and He has sent down out of these one part of mercy upon the jinn and human beings and animals and the insects, and it is because of this (one part) that they love one another, show kindness to one another and even the beast treats its young one with affection, and Allah has reserved ninety nine parts of mercy with which He would treat His servants on the Day of Resurrection.

QUICK LESSONS:
Show kindness and love towards others

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the mercy that Allah has bestowed upon all living creatures. It explains that out of the hundred parts of mercy, one part was sent down to jinns, humans, animals and insects. This is why they show love and kindness towards each other; even animals treat their young ones with affection. The remaining ninety nine parts are reserved for Allah's servants on the Day of Resurrection when He will treat them with His mercy. This hadith teaches us to be kind and loving towards each other as it is a sign that we have been blessed by Allah's mercy. We should also remember that we will be judged by our actions on the Day of Resurrection so we should strive to do good deeds in order to receive His blessings in return.
