The Power of Praise

SUMMARY: Reciting certain phrases of praise to Allah can be better than having a servant.

Abu Huraira reported that Fatima came to Allah's Apostle and asked for a servant and told him of the hardship of household work. He said: You would not be able to get a servant from us. May I not direct you to what is better than the servant for you? Recite Subhaana Allah thirty-three times, al- Hamdu li-Allah thirty-three times and Allah-o-Akbar thirty-four times as you go to bed. This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Suhail with the same chain of transmitters.

QUICK LESSONS:
Recite praises for god before going to bed
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith, narrated by Abu Huraira and Suhail, tells us that reciting certain phrases of praise to Allah can be better than having a servant. Fatima came to the Prophet Muhammad and asked for a servant, but he told her that she would not be able to get one from them. Instead, he suggested that she recite “Subhaana Allah” thirty three times, “al-Hamdu li-Allah” thirty three times and “Allah o Akbar” thirty four times before going to bed as an alternative. This is an example of how praising God can bring us closer to Him and help us in our daily lives. It also shows us the importance of faith in our lives; if we trust in God's plan for us then He will provide for all our needs even if it is not what we expected or wanted at first.
