Seeking Repentance From Allah

SUMMARY: The hadith is about seeking repentance from Allah and how the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sought repentance from Him a hundred times a day.

Al-Agharr al-Muzani who was from amongst the Companions of Allah's Apostle reported that Ibn 'Umar stated to him that Allah's Messenger (may peace 'be upon him) said: O people, seek repentance from Allah. Verily, I seek repentance from Him a hundred times a day.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي، بُرْدَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الأَغَرَّ، وَكَانَ، مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ يُحَدِّثُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ تُوبُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ فَإِنِّي أَتُوبُ فِي الْيَوْمِ إِلَيْهِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of seeking repentance from Allah. It is narrated by two companions of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, namely Al-Agharr al-Muzani and Ibn 'Umar. The hadith states that the Prophet himself sought repentance from Allah a hundred times a day. This shows us how important it is to seek forgiveness for our sins and mistakes in order to stay close to God. We should strive to do this as much as possible in order to remain on the path of righteousness and piety. Additionally, this hadith also teaches us that we should never give up hope or despair when it comes to seeking forgiveness from God; no matter how many times we have sinned or made mistakes, we can always turn back towards Him with sincere repentance and He will forgive us if we are truly repentant.
