Supplicating for Good in This World and the Hereafter

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the supplication of Allah's Messenger for good in this world and the Hereafter, and to be saved from the torment of Hell Fire.

Anas reported that Allah's Messenger used to supplicate (in these words): " Our Lord, grant us the good in this world and the good in the Hereafter and save us from the torment of Hell Fire".
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ ‏ "‏ رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

We should also remember to ask Allah for protection from any harm or punishment that may come our way.
