The Closeness of Allah

SUMMARY: Allah is very close to those who come to Him with sincerity and devotion.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Apostle as saying that Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, said: When My servant draws close to Me by the span of a palm, I draw close to him by the cubit and when he draws close to Me by the cubit, I draw close to him by the space (covered) by two Arm-span, and when he comes to me walking, I go in a hurry towards him.

QUICK LESSONS:
Draw near to God through sincerity and devotion
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the closeness that Allah has for His servants when they come to Him with sincerity and devotion. It is said that when a person draws close to Allah by the span of a palm, He draws close to them by the cubit, which is twice as long. When they draw closer still, He draws even closer still - so much so that if they come walking towards Him, He will go in a hurry towards them. This hadith shows us how much love and mercy Allah has for His servants - no matter how far away we may feel from Him, all we have to do is take one step towards Him and He will take two steps towards us! It also teaches us the importance of having sincere intentions in our worship - if we are devoted and sincere in our actions then we can be sure that Allah will be there for us every step of the way.
