Sahih Muslim 2655 (Book 46, Hadith 29) #13824
The Power of Allah over Hearts

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the power of Allah to turn hearts in any direction He wishes, and a prayer to Allah to turn our hearts towards His obedience.

Abdullah b. Amr b. al-'As reported that he heard Allah's Messenger as saying: Verily, the hearts of all the sons of Adam are between the two fingers out of the fingers of the Compassionate Lord as one heart. He turns that to any (direction) He likes. Then Allahs Messenger said: 0 Allah, the Turner of the hearts, turn our hearts to Thine obedience.

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray for guidance from God so that your heart may be turned towards His obedience

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the power of Allah over all human hearts. It states that all human hearts are between two fingers of the Compassionate Lord, and He can turn them in any direction He wishes. This means that no matter what we do or how hard we try, ultimately it is up to Allah whether our heart will be turned towards Him or away from Him. Therefore, this hadith encourages us to make dua and pray for guidance from Allah so that our heart may be turned towards His obedience and away from sinning against Him. Additionally, this hadith also reminds us of the mercy and compassion of Allah as He has given us free will but still has control over our hearts if we choose not to use it correctly.
