Sahih Muslim 112b (Book 46, Hadith 19) #13814
Appearances Can Be Deceiving

SUMMARY: The deeds of a person may not always reflect their true character, and they may be rewarded or punished accordingly.

Sahl b. Sa'd reported it from Allah's Messenger that a person performs deeds like the deeds of the people of Paradise apparently before people and he would be amongst the dwellers of Hell and a person acts apparently like the people of Hell, but (in fact) he would be among the dwellers of Paradise.

QUICK LESSONS:
Remember that Allah is the only one who knows what is in a person’s heart so don’t judge others based on their appearances or actions alone.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that our actions do not always reflect our true character, and we should not judge people based on what we see them doing. We should remember that Allah is the only one who knows what is in a person's heart, and He will reward or punish them accordingly. It is important to remember that even if someone appears to be doing something wrong, it does not mean they are bad people; Allah knows the truth about everyone's intentions and will judge them fairly. Similarly, even if someone appears to be doing good deeds, it does not necessarily mean they are good people; Allah knows the truth about everyone's intentions and will judge them fairly as well.
