The Importance of Fulfilling Oaths

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the importance of fulfilling one's oaths and promises.

This hadith has been reported by Zuhri on the authority of Malik, and in the hadith transmitted on the authority of Sufyan (the words are): " He would enter into Fire, except for the fulfilment of the oath".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَعَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، وَابْنُ، رَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، كِلاَهُمَا عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، ‏.‏ بِإِسْنَادِ مَالِكٍ وَبِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِهِ إِلاَّ أَنَّ فِي حَدِيثِ سُفْيَانَ ‏ "‏ فَيَلِجَ النَّارَ إِلاَّ تَحِلَّةَ الْقَسَمِ
