Sahih Muslim 2601a (Book 45, Hadith 114) #13692
Seeking Purity and Mercy Through Curses

SUMMARY: This hadith is about asking Allah to make any curse, malediction or whipping given to a Muslim a source of purity and mercy.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger as saying: O Allah, I am a human being and for any person amongst Muslims upon whom I hurl malediction or invoke curse or give him whipping make it a source of purity and mercy.

QUICK LESSONS:
Ask Allah for mercy and purity when punishing Muslims .

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad is asking Allah for mercy and purity when it comes to punishing Muslims. He is asking that any curse, malediction or whipping given to a Muslim be turned into something that brings them closer to Allah instead of further away from Him. This teaches us that even when we are disciplining someone, we should do so with mercy in our hearts and not with anger or hatred. We should also remember that no matter how much someone has wronged us, we should still strive for justice rather than revenge.
