Sahih Muslim 2598a (Book 45, Hadith 108) #13686
The Consequences of Cursing

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the consequences of cursing someone, and how it will not be accepted by Allah on the Day of Resurrection.

Zaid b. Aslam reported that 'Abd al-Malik b. Marwan sent some domestic goods for decoration to Umm Darda' on his own behalf, and when it was night 'Abd al-Malik got up and called for the servant. It seemed as if he (the servant) was late (in responding to his call), so he ('Abd al-Malik) invoked curse upon him, and when it was morning Umm Darda' said to him: I heard you cursing your servant during the night when you called him, and she said: I heard Abu Darda' as saying that Allah's Messenger said: The invoker of curse would neither be intercessor nor witness on the Day of Resurrection.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be respectful and kind towards others even if you are angry with them

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the consequences of cursing someone, which is a form of disrespect and unkindness. It was narrated by Zaid b. Aslam that 'Abd al-Malik b. Marwan sent some domestic goods for decoration to Umm Darda', but when he called for his servant late at night, he invoked curse upon him out of anger or frustration. When Umm Darda' heard this, she reminded him that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that those who invoke curse will not be accepted as intercessors or witnesses on the Day of Judgment in front of Allah SWT. This hadith teaches us to be kind and respectful towards others even if we are angry with them, as it will have serious consequences in the hereafter if we do not follow this advice from Prophet Muhammad ﷺ .
