Sahih Muslim 2544 (Book 44, Hadith 324) #13574
Kindness to Strangers

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that people should be kind and respectful to one another, even if they are strangers.

Abu Barza reported that Allah's Messenger sent a person to a tribe amongst the tribes of Arabia. They reviled him and beat him. He came to Allah's Messenger and narrated to him (the story of atrocities perpetrated upon him by the people of the tribe). Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: If you were to come to the people of ____'Umar____, they would have neither reviled you nor beaten you.

QUICK LESSONS:
Treat others with respect and kindness regardless of whether we know them or not.

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad's teachings emphasize the importance of being kind and respectful to everyone, even those who are strangers. He sent a person to a tribe in Arabia, but they reviled him and beat him. When he told the Prophet about what happened, he said that if he had gone to the people of Umar, they would not have treated him so badly. This hadith teaches us that we should always treat others with kindness and respect regardless of whether we know them or not. We should never mistreat someone just because they are different from us or come from a different place.
