Sahih al-Bukhari 1403 (Book 24, Hadith 8) #1348
The Importance of Paying Zakat

SUMMARY: Wealth should not be hoarded and Zakat must be paid to those in need.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, "Whoever is made wealthy by Allah and does not pay the Zakat of his wealth, then on the Day of Resurrection his wealth will be made like a bald-headed poisonous male snake with two black spots over the eyes. The snake will encircle his neck and bite his cheeks and say, 'I am your wealth, I am your treasure'. " Then the Prophet recited the holy verses:-- 'Let not those who withhold . . '. (to the end of the verse). (3:180).

QUICK LESSONS:
Pay zakat
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of paying zakat, which is a religious obligation for Muslims. Allah has blessed some people with wealth and it is their responsibility to use this wealth in a way that benefits others. If they do not pay zakat, then on the Day of Resurrection their wealth will take the form of a snake that will bite them and remind them that they did not fulfill their obligation. The verse from Surah Al-Imran further emphasizes this point by saying “Let not those who withhold out of what Allah has given them from His bounty think that it is better for them; rather it is worse for them”(3:180). This hadith teaches us to use our wealth responsibly and share it with those who are less fortunate than us.
