Sahih Muslim 2481c (Book 44, Hadith 207) #13458
Blessing from the Prophet

SUMMARY: The hadith is about a mother asking the Prophet to bless her son, and the Prophet granting her request.

Anas b. Malik said: Allah's Messenger passed (by our house) that my mother Umm Sulaim listened to his voice and said: Allah's Messenger, let my father and mother be sacrificed for thee, here is Unais (and requested him to invoke blessings upon me). So Allah's Messenger invoked three blessings upon me. I have seen (the results) of the two in this very world (in regard to wealth and progeny) and I hope to see (the result) of the third one in the Hereafter.

QUICK LESSONS:
Ask for blessings from those close to Allah; Express gratitude through words or deeds; Be sincere when making requests; Show appreciation after receiving a blessing; Have faith that your prayers will be answered by God Almighty .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a mother named Umm Sulaim who asked Allah's Messenger to bless her son Unais. The Prophet granted her request and invoked three blessings upon him. Umm Sulaim was so grateful for this blessing that she expressed her gratitude by offering to sacrifice both of her parents for the sake of Allah's Messenger. She saw two of these blessings manifest in this world in terms of wealth and progeny, while she hoped to see the third one in the Hereafter. This hadith teaches us that we should always be grateful for any blessings we receive from Allah or His Messenger, as well as expressing our gratitude through words or deeds whenever possible. It also shows us how important it is to ask for blessings from those who are close to Allah, such as prophets or righteous people, since they can help us achieve success in both this world and the next one if we are sincere in our requests and show appreciation afterwards.
