Gift to the Prophet and Prohibiting Silk

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad was gifted a garment, but he did not mention that it was made of silk which is prohibited.

Anas reported the king of Dumat al-Jandal presented to Allah's Messenger the garment and lie made no mention (of the fact) that he prohibited the use of silk.
حَدَّثَنَاهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سَالِمُ بْنُ نُوحٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ أُكَيْدِرَ، دُومَةِ الْجَنْدَلِ أَهْدَى لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏.‏ حُلَّةً فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ فِيهِ وَكَانَ يَنْهَى عَنِ الْحَرِيرِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us about an incident when the King of Dumat al-Jandal presented a gift to the Prophet Muhammad. However, what is important to note here is that the prophet did not mention that this gift was made of silk which is prohibited in Islam. This hadith teaches us about being mindful and aware of our actions and words as well as being conscious of what we consume or use in our daily lives. It also teaches us about gratitude for gifts given by others even if they are not permissible according to Islamic teachings.
