Encouraging Children to Play

SUMMARY: Allah's Messenger ﷺ encouraged children to play and not be shy in his presence.

'A'isha reported that she used to play with dolls in the presence of Allah's Messenger and when her playmates came to her they left (the house) because they felt shy of Allah's Messenger , whereas Allah's Messenger sent them to her.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَلْعَبُ بِالْبَنَاتِ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ قَالَتْ وَكَانَتْ تَأْتِينِي صَوَاحِبِي فَكُنَّ يَنْقَمِعْنَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ قَالَتْ فَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يُسَرِّبُهُنَّ إِلَىَّ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of encouraging children to play and not be shy in the presence of Allah's Messenger. It is narrated by 'A'isha who was a young girl at the time when she used to play with dolls in front of Allah's Messenger. When her friends came over they felt shy but Allah's Messenger sent them back to her so that she could continue playing with them. This hadith teaches us that it is important for children to have fun and enjoy their childhood without feeling embarrassed or ashamed in front of adults. It also shows us how much respect and kindness Allah's Messenger showed towards children by allowing them to play freely without judgement or criticism.
