Praising the Best Women of Their Time

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) praised Mary, daughter of Imran and Khadija, daughter of Khuwailid as the best women of their time.

'Abdullah b. Ja'far reported that he heard 'Ali say in Kufa that Allah's Messenger said: The best of the women of her time was Mary, daughter of 'Imran, and the best of the women of her time was Khadija, daughter of Khuwailid. Abu Kuraib said that Waki' pointed towards the sky and the earth.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، وَأَبُو أُسَامَةَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، وَابْنُ، نُمَيْرٍ وَوَكِيعٌ وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، كُلُّهُمْ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، وَاللَّفْظُ، حَدِيثُ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ جَعْفَرٍ، يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا، بِالْكُوفَةِ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ ‏ "‏ خَيْرُ نِسَائِهَا مَرْيَمُ بِنْتُ عِمْرَانَ وَخَيْرُ نِسَائِهَا خَدِيجَةُ بِنْتُ خُوَيْلِدٍ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ وَأَشَارَ وَكِيعٌ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ وَالأَرْضِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how Prophet Muhammad praised two women from his time, Mary and Khadija. Mary was the daughter of Imran and she was known for her piety and devotion to Allah. Similarly, Prophet Muhammad also praised his first wife, Khadija who was known for her generosity and kindness towards others. This hadith teaches us that we should always appreciate people who are kind-hearted and devoted to Allah no matter what their gender is. It also teaches us that we should never underestimate anyone based on their gender or social status but rather judge them by their character traits such as kindness, generosity etc.
