Sahih Muslim 2421b (Book 44, Hadith 87) #13338
The Prophet's Love for His Grandson

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) showed his love for his grandson Hasan and asked Allah to love him too.

Abu Huraira reported: I went along with Allah's Messenger at a time during the day but he did not talk to me and I did not talk to him until he reached the market of Bani Qainuqa'. He came back to the tent of Fatima and said: Is the little chap (meaning Hasan) there? We were under the impression that his mother had detained him in order to bathe him and dress him and garland him with a sweet garland. Not much time had passed that he (Hasan) came running until both of them embraced each other, thereupon Allah's Messenger said: O Allah, I love him; love him Thou and love one who loves him (Hasan).

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the great love that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had for his grandson, Hasan. When he went to the market of Bani Qainuqa', he asked if Hasan was there and when he came running, they both embraced each other. The Prophet then said a prayer asking Allah to love him as much as he did. This hadith teaches us that we should show our loved ones how much we care about them and ask Allah to do the same. It also shows us how important it is to have strong family ties and relationships with our loved ones, especially those in our immediate family such as grandparents, parents, siblings etc. We should always strive to maintain these relationships even when times are tough or when we are busy with other things in life.
