The Stirring of Hira Mountain

SUMMARY: This hadith speaks of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his companions being on the mountain of Hira, and how it stirred when they were there.

Abu Huraira reported that Allah's Messenger was on the mountain of Hira' that it stirred; thereupon Allah's Messenger said: Hira! be calm, for there is none upon you but a Prophet, a Siddiq, a Shahid, and there were upon it Allah's Prophet , Abu Bakr, 'Umar, Uthman, 'Ali, Talha, Zubair, Sa'd b. Abi Waqqas (Allah be pleased with them).
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُنَيْسٍ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الأَزْدِيُّ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ، حَدَّثَنِي سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلاَلٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ، بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَانَ عَلَى جَبَلِ حِرَاءٍ فَتَحَرَّكَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ اسْكُنْ حِرَاءُ فَمَا عَلَيْكَ إِلاَّ نَبِيٌّ أَوْ صِدِّيقٌ أَوْ شَهِيدٌ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ وَعَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَعُثْمَانُ وَعَلِيٌّ وَطَلْحَةُ وَالزُّبَيْرُ وَسَعْدُ بْنُ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ رضى الله عنهم

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about a momentous event in Islamic history, when Prophet Muhammad and his companions were on the mountain of Hira'. It is said that when they arrived, the mountain stirred as if to welcome them. This is seen as a sign from God that He was pleased with their presence there. The hadith also mentions some of Prophet Muhammad's most beloved companions by name - Abu Bakr, 'Umar, Uthman, 'Ali, Talha, Zubair and Sa'd b. Abi Waqqas - all whom are highly respected figures in Islamic history for their loyalty to God and His messenger. This hadith serves as an example for us to follow in our own lives; we should strive to be like these great men who dedicated themselves so fully to serving God and His messenger.
