The Misfortune of Land, Servants and Horses

SUMMARY: Bad luck can be found in land, servants and horses.

Jabir reported Allah's Messenger as saying: If bad luck were to be in anything, it is found in the land, in the servant and in the horse.
وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنِ ابْنِ، جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرًا، يُخْبِرُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ إِنْ كَانَ فِي شَىْءٍ فَفِي الرَّبْعِ وَالْخَادِمِ وَالْفَرَسِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari. It states that bad luck can be found in land, servants and horses. This hadith teaches us to be mindful of the things we own or possess as they may bring misfortune upon us. We should also take care of our possessions such as land, servants and horses so that we do not suffer from any bad luck associated with them. We should also strive to maintain a good relationship with our possessions so that they do not become a source of misfortune for us. Furthermore, this hadith reminds us to always remain humble and grateful for whatever blessings Allah has bestowed upon us as these are the only things which will protect us from any kind of misfortune or bad luck.
