Seeking Refuge in Allah

SUMMARY: Allah rewards those who seek refuge in Him and shows kindness to those who are shy, while He turns away His attention from those who revert.

Abu Waqid al-Laith reported that Allah's Messenger was sitting in the mosque along wish tome people when there came to him three persons; two of them stepped forward to the direction of Allah's Messenger , and one of them went away. The two stood by the side of Allah's Messenger , and one of them found a space in his circle and he sat in that; and the other one sat behind him and the third one went away. When Allah's Messenger had finished his work, he said. Should I not inform you about these three persons? One of them sought refuge with Allah and Allah gave him refuge and the second one felt shy and Allah showed kindness to has shyness (and so he was accommodated in that meeting), and the last one reverted and Allah turned away His attention from him.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of seeking refuge with Allah and how He rewards those who do so. It also speaks of the virtue of shyness, which is a trait that should be cultivated in order to gain the pleasure of Allah. Lastly, it warns against reverting from faith as this will lead to one being turned away from the mercy and grace of Allah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was sitting with some people when three persons came before him; two stepped forward while one went away. After finishing his work, he informed them about these three persons; one sought refuge with Allah and was given refuge, another felt shy and was shown kindness by being included in the gathering, while the last one reverted from faith and thus lost out on any mercy or grace from Allah. This hadith teaches us that we should always seek refuge with our Lord when faced with difficulty or hardship as He will surely answer our prayers if we are sincere in our supplications. We should also cultivate a sense of modesty or shyness as this is a trait beloved by God Almighty which can open up many doors for us if we practice it sincerely. Lastly, we must never turn away from faith as this will only lead us further astray and cause us to lose out on any blessings that may have been bestowed upon us otherwise.
