Sahih Muslim 2167a (Book 39, Hadith 16) #12754
Greeting Non-Muslims

SUMMARY: Muslims should not greet Jews and Christians before they greet them, and if they meet one of them on the roads, they should force them to go to the narrowest part of it.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger as saying: Do not greet the Jews and the Christians before they greet you and when you meet any one of them on the roads force him to go to the narrowest part of it.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how Muslims should interact with non-Muslims. It teaches us that when we meet a Jew or Christian on the road, we should not greet them first but wait for them to greet us first. If we do meet one of these people on the road, then we must make sure that they stay in the narrowest part of it so as to avoid any potential conflict between us. This hadith also teaches us that even though there may be differences between our beliefs and those of other religions, we must still treat each other with respect and kindness.
