Prohibiting an Action

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad forbade Ali from doing something.

'Ali b. Abu Talib reported that he (Allah'. s Apostle) forbade or forbade me. the rest of the hadith is the same.
وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَابْنُ، بَشَّارٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا بُرْدَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، قَالَ نَهَى أَوْ نَهَانِي يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, gave a commandment to his cousin and son-in-law, Ali b. Abu Talib, to not do something. This hadith shows us the importance of following the commands of Allah and His Messenger in order to stay on the right path and gain His pleasure. It also teaches us that we should take advice from those who are more knowledgeable than us in order to make sure that we are doing what is right according to Islam. Furthermore, it reminds us that even if someone is close to us or related to us, we should still follow their advice if it is beneficial for our spiritual growth and development as Muslims.
