The Sin of Pride

SUMMARY: Pride is a sin and Allah will not look upon those who are proud on the Day of Resurrection.

Ibn 'Umar reported Allah's Messenger having said: He who trails his (lower) garment out of pride, Allah will not look toward him on the Day of Resurrection.

QUICK LESSONS:
Dress modestly and humbly without any intention to show off or boast about ourselves.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith warns us against the sin of pride, which is known as Kibr in Arabic. It was narrated by Ibn 'Umar that Allah's Messenger said that whoever trails their lower garment out of pride, Allah will not look towards them on the Day of Resurrection. This means that if someone wears their clothing in a way to show off or to make themselves appear better than others, then they will be punished for it on the day when everyone will be judged for their actions. We should remember this warning and strive to always dress modestly and humbly without any intention to show off or boast about ourselves.
