Blessings in Every Bite

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad commanded people to lick their fingers and the dish after eating, as blessings may be found in any portion of the food.

Jabir reported that Allah's Messenger commanded the licking of fingers and the dish, saying: You do not know in what portion the blessing lies".
وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ أَمَرَ بِلَعْقِ الأَصَابِعِ وَالصَّحْفَةِ وَقَالَ ‏ "‏ إِنَّكُمْ لاَ تَدْرُونَ فِي أَيِّهِ الْبَرَكَةُ

The Prophet Muhammad taught us that blessings can be found in every bite of food we take. He commanded us to lick our fingers and the dish after eating, so that no blessing is left behind. This hadith teaches us to be mindful of our actions and not waste anything, as even a small morsel can contain great blessings from Allah. We should also remember to thank Allah for all His bounties and never take them for granted.
