Prohibiting Breathing in a Vessel

SUMMARY: It is forbidden to breathe into a vessel.

Abu Qatada reported on the authority of his father that Allah's Apostle forbade breathing in a vessel.
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا الثَّقَفِيُّ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ، اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ نَهَى أَنْ يُتَنَفَّسَ فِي الإِنَاءِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prohibition of breathing into a vessel. According to this hadith, Allah's Messenger forbade breathing in a vessel. This means that it is not allowed to exhale or inhale air into any kind of container such as a cup or bowl. The reason for this prohibition is unknown but it could be related to hygiene and cleanliness as well as respect for the vessels used by people. It could also be related to the idea that one should not waste their breath on something that has no benefit or use. Whatever the reason may be, this hadith serves as an important reminder for us all to follow Allah's commands and stay away from things which are prohibited by Him.
