Sahih Muslim 1978b (Book 35, Hadith 61) #12229
The Consequences of Disobeying Allah

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the consequences of sacrificing for anyone besides Allah, accommodating an innovator, cursing one's parents and changing boundary lines.

Abu Tufail reported: We said to 'Ali b. Abi Talib: Inform us about something which Allah's Messenger told you in secret, whereupon he said: He told me nothing in secret which he bid from people, but I heard him say: Allah cursed him who sacrificed for anyone besides Allah; and cursed him who accommodated an innovator; and Allah cursed him who cursed his parents and Allah cursed him who changed the boundary lines (of the land possessed by him).

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Abu Tufail who reported from 'Ali b. Abi Talib that Prophet Muhammad said that Allah cursed those who sacrifice for anyone besides Him, accommodate an innovator, curse their parents and change boundary lines of land possessed by them. Sacrificing for anyone other than Allah means to worship someone or something else instead of worshipping only Him which is a major sin in Islam as it goes against the teachings of monotheism or tawhid which is one of the main pillars in Islam. Accommodating an innovator means to support someone who introduces something new into religion which goes against its teachings and principles as it can lead to deviation from the right path and cause confusion among people regarding religious matters. Cursing one's parents is also considered a major sin in Islam as it goes against respecting them and showing gratitude towards them for all they have done for us throughout our lives while changing boundary lines refers to taking away someone else's property without their permission which again goes against Islamic teachings on justice and fairness towards others.
