Changes in Prohibitions by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: This hadith explains the changes in certain prohibitions that were made by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Abdullah b. Buraida reported on the authority of his father that Allah's Messenger said this: I prohibited you from visiting the graves, but (now) you may visit them, and I prohibited you (from eating) the flesh of sacrificed animals beyond three days, but now keep it as long as you like. I prohibited you from the use of Nabidh except (that preoared) in dry waterskins. Now drink (Nabidh prepared in any utensil), but do not drink when it becomes intoxicant.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about certain prohibitions that were made by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and how they changed over time. For example, it was initially prohibited to visit graves but now it is allowed. Similarly, eating sacrificed animals beyond three days was also prohibited but now it can be kept as long as one likes. The use of Nabidh was also initially restricted to dry waterskins only but now it can be consumed from any utensil as long as it does not become intoxicant. These changes show us how flexible and understanding our beloved prophet ﷺ was towards his followers and their needs at different times and places. He always strived to make things easier for them while still adhering to Islamic principles and values.
