Sacrificing in the Name of Allah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) sacrificed two horned rams of white colour with black markings over them, while reciting the name of Allah and glorifying Him.

Anas reported that Allah's Messenger sacrificed two horned rams of white colour with black markings over them. He also stated: I saw him sacrificing them with his own hand and saw him placing his foot on their sides, and recited the name of Allah and Glorified Him.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَخْبَرَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ ضَحَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ بِكَبْشَيْنِ أَمْلَحَيْنِ أَقْرَنَيْنِ قَالَ وَرَأَيْتُهُ يَذْبَحُهُمَا بِيَدِهِ وَرَأَيْتُهُ وَاضِعًا قَدَمَهُ عَلَى صِفَاحِهِمَا قَالَ وَسَمَّى وَكَبَّرَ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrates an event from the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is reported that he sacrificed two horned rams which were white in colour with black markings on them. He did this while reciting the name of Allah and glorifying Him. This hadith teaches us about sacrificing animals for religious purposes as a form of worship to God. It also teaches us to be mindful when performing any act and to always remember God by saying His name and praising Him for His greatness. Furthermore, it shows us how important it is to be humble before God even when we are doing something as simple as sacrificing animals for religious purposes.
