Grooming Before Entering Home After A Journey

SUMMARY: One should not enter their house at night after returning from a journey until the women of the house have groomed themselves.

It has been narrated on the authority of Jabir that the Messenger of Allah said: If one of you comes (back from a journey) at night. he should not enter his house as a night visitor (but should wait) until a woman whose husband has been away from house has removed the hair from her private parts and a woman with dishevelled hair has combed her hair.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about proper etiquette when returning home from a journey. It is narrated by Jabir that the Prophet Muhammad said that if one returns home at night after a journey, they should not enter their house until the women of the house have groomed themselves. This means that they should comb their hair and remove any unwanted hair from their private parts. This hadith teaches us to be mindful of others and to respect them by giving them time to prepare before entering our homes. It also teaches us to be patient and wait for others before we do something ourselves.
