Wash thrice or five times with water and Sidr; Apply camphor or some camphor at the end; Notify when finished; Provide a waist sheet for shrouding; Respect for the dead; Follow Allah's commands even in times of grief

The Prophet Muhammad's daughter had passed away and he gave instructions on how to properly wash her body. He instructed that she should be washed three to five times with water and Sidr, a type of tree found in the Middle East. After washing her body, camphor or some other form of camphor should be applied at the end. Once this was done, he asked them to notify him when they were finished so he could provide a waist-sheet for her shrouding. This waist-sheet was then used to cover her body as part of the burial process. This hadith teaches us about respecting our dead by providing them with proper burial rites according to Islamic teachings. It also shows us that even in times of grief we must remain steadfast in following Allah's commands as taught by His Messenger ﷺ .
