Leading by Example

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was willing to go on expeditions and lead by example, but he was aware of the difficulty it would cause his people.

It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah said: If it were not hard upon my Umma (to follow my example), I would not lag behind any expedition-as in the traditions gone before.
