Sahih Muslim 1863a (Book 33, Hadith 122) #11932
Serving Islam and Striving in the Way of Allah

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) encourages Mujashi' b. Mas'ud to serve the cause of Islam, strive in the way of Allah and follow the path of virtue instead of migrating.

It has been reported on the authority of Mujashi' b. Mas'ud as-Sulami who said: I came to the Prophet to offer him my pledge of migration. He said: The period of migration has expired (and those who were to get the reward for this great act of devotion have got it). You may now give your pledge to serve the cause of Islam, to strive in the way of Allah and to follow the path of virtue.

QUICK LESSONS:
Serve others, Follow Islamic teachings

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how Mujashi’ b. Mas’ud as-Sulami came to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to offer his pledge for migration, but was told that it was too late for that and instead he should give his pledge to serve the cause of Islam, strive in the way of Allah and follow the path of virtue. This hadith teaches us that we should always be striving towards righteousness even if it is not through migration or physical movement but through our actions such as serving others, being kind and generous, following Islamic teachings etc. It also teaches us that we should never give up on doing good deeds no matter what stage we are at in life or how late it may seem because there is always something good we can do for ourselves and others around us.
