Obey Allah & His Messenger; Respect authority figures; Follow divine commandments

This hadith explains the importance of obedience to Allah and His Messenger as well as those in authority from amongst us. It was revealed in respect of 'Abdullah b. Hudhafa b. Qais b. Adi al-Sahmi who was dispatched by the Prophet as leader of a military campaign. The narrator said that he was informed of this fact by Ya’la b Muslim who was informed by Sa’id b Jubair who in turn was informed by Ibn Abbas. This hadith teaches us that we should obey Allah's commands first and foremost before following any other orders or instructions given to us by anyone else including our parents or teachers or leaders etc., because ultimately it is only God's will that matters most for our lives here on earth and hereafter too! We must also be mindful to obey those whom He has put over us such as our parents, teachers, leaders etc., so long as their orders do not contradict with what He has commanded us to do!
