Sahih al-Bukhari 1224 (Book 22, Hadith 1) #1179
Prayer Etiquette According to the Prophet (ﷺ)

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) led a prayer of two rak'at and got up for the third without sitting, then he said Takbir before Taslim and performed two prostrations while sitting.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin Buhaina: Allah's Messenger once led us in a prayer and offered two rak'at and got up (for the third rak'a) without sitting (after the second rak'a). The people also got up with him, and when he was about to finish his prayer, we waited for him to finish the prayer with Taslim but he said Takbir before Taslim and performed two prostrations while sitting and then finished the prayer with Taslim.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the etiquette of prayer according to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It is narrated by 'Abdullah bin Buhaina that Allah's Messenger ﷺ once led them in a prayer of two rak'at and got up for the third without sitting. The people also got up with him, and when he was about to finish his prayer, they waited for him to finish with Taslim but instead he said Takbir before it and performed two prostrations while sitting. This teaches us that we should follow our leader in prayers as well as perform all its components correctly according to Sunnah. We should not rush through our prayers but take time in performing each part properly so that we can gain maximum benefit from it. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us that we should always end our prayers with a proper salutation or tasleem which is an important part of every Muslim's daily life routine.
